This is what I like most about walking as an exercise. Everybody can do it and it’s easy to find a spot for it in almost any schedule.
Unfortunately, because of all the advertisement around us walking is often overlooked. That’s too bad because a lot of people are missing out on what can be a life changing decision and that’s why I want to talk about it.
DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE IN THIS SITUATION
When you are overweight, out of shape or simply not an active person it’s almost impossible to follow a common fitness programs. I’m referring to regular workouts, doing abs, lifting weights, jogging and all those “cool” activities that everybody feels so proud about.
Don’t get me wrong, I totally agree with all of them and I believe they are very effective … IF they are applied to the right person.
DO WHAT IS RIGHT FOR YOU
It’s that simple. We all need to know where we are at and use the formula that is right for us.
If you take someone who hasn’t played any sports in their life, years have passed and on top of everything is now overweight, do you think gym workouts and add to that a strict meal schedule will bring happy feelings? Of course not. It’s against their nature and habits.
Things need to progress at a slow pace in this situation and walking might just be the best way to start with.
We need to understand that such a person has difficulties even getting dressed and ready for walking so that’s an exercise in itself that we’ll talk about in another post.
Everybody is at different levels and not doing what’s right for you will only lead to more frustration. This is one of the most important things that people should know when it comes to their health. Unfortunately nobody talks about it because it’s not “sexy” and it doesn’t sell. But from all things, here is where you should start.
